Are you ready to meet another Shuriken team member?
Today, it’s time to give a proper welcome to Liz Chiquillan, Executive Assistant at the CEO’s office.
She’s a super-organised professional, who loves to interact with people and to travel.
Let’s find out more about her!
Motivation, commitment and a bit of magic powder
Liz may seem a bit shy when you first meet her, but don’t let that fool you. She blooms like a flower when she gets to know you better. The moment she feels comfortable with the people around her, she instantly opens up and the magic happens.
She’s not only a people-person but she also has a diverse background in hospitality. Since she moved to Australia in 2015, she has gained a lot of valuable experience in customer service.
What if I’d tell you Liz has a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, would you be surprised?
Yes, she does.
Back in Peru, her native country, she studied engineering and worked in a 6-month internship.
The experience provided her with a wider view of the engineering field and made her understand that engineering is something she likes but not something she really loves. That’s why she decided to try other career paths.
Before relocating to Australia in 2015, she lived in the USA for a while and even worked at the Olympics in Canada in 2010… what an amazing experience!
Great minds think alike
“This is my dream position,” says Liz and we’re so happy to have her here. She adds that her Executive Assistant role at Shuriken is a big challenge but also a great opportunity for her to learn.
Liz is responsible for the company’s procedures and organisational duties, which can be quite a heavy task but she manages it very well. You see, that’s why we embrace diversity and open-mindedness here at Shuriken. Her diverse professional background helps her adapt and provided her with the skills necessary to fulfil her responsibilities. She’s perfect for the job!
She is the fairy godmother of my schedule and agenda. Anytime I have a brand new idea she’s there to help me implement it. Liz is truly a life-saver.

An Australian to her bones
Liz absolutely loves spending time at the beach, trying out adventurous water sports. Most recently, she started doing boogie boarding.
Besides this, she’s also a good dancer, putting a tick in the box of hip-hop and Latin dancing so far.
As a bonus, one of her greatest passions is travelling. You might have guessed this from her professional experience. She started travelling at the age of 17 years and never stopped.
Little did you know …
… that from a very young age, Liz dreamt about settling in Australia. Now, her dream finally became reality.
Why did she love Australia so much as a child?
Because of the kangaroos.
When she was 13, there was a television programme with kangaroos. The moment she Googled them at school and figured out they were real living animals in Australia, her dream of moving to Australia came to life.

Liz’s key to success is… motivation. Her piece of advice is to find a way to motivate yourself even if you’re tired.
Liz shares her behind-the-scenes organisational tips with us. She always starts her mornings by picturing her day. Being aware of the duties she has pending for the day and setting specific attainable goals during the day keeps Liz on top of her game every day.
“Maybe you won’t be able to achieve all the goals you set in the morning but by prioritising them you can accomplish at least the main ones. Count that as a successful day!” explains Liz.
She believes that, if you’re motivated to do something nothing is impossible.
A method Liz uses to prevent herself from losing focus is to write down the things she has to do. Try it and let us know if it works for you!
